Special Needs Ministry
Our Special Needs Ministry's goal is to ensure that those with special needs have a safe place to learn about Jesus Christ, worship together, and build community. We’re intentional in our easygoing approach to help all experience His transforming love and grace.
We have more than 100 students, with 85% being adults with varying abilities and needs on our Shea Campus. Our classes and events are assisted by many loving volunteers who joyfully come alongside our students to make them feel welcome and help them learn from God’s Word.
- Classroom Teachers: Lead a group of adults or children with special needs. Some of the duties include teaching a lesson, leading prayer, and participating in worship. Membership at Scottsdale Bible Church is required for this volunteer role. Days/Times: Tuesdays 6:30pm, Sundays 9:45 & 11:30am
- Classroom Buddies: Assist the Lead Teacher with our special needs children and adults. Days/Times: Tuesdays 6:30pm, Sundays 9:45 & 11:30am
- Event Volunteers: Help at various events throughout the year. Duties can include planning, decorations, food, set-up/clean-up, or assistance during the event.
In addition to submitting a Volunteer Application and completing a background check, Special Ministries volunteers must also provide 2 references and watch several training/safety videos prior to serving.
