Family Promise
This partner provides emergency shelter, food, clothing, and social services to help families move toward independent housing and self-sufficiency. integrates educational outreach, smart programming and thousands of hands-on volunteers to tackle the multifaceted problem of poverty.
At Family Promise gives families the tools and training to care for their children, find employment and housing, and become independent and successful. Family Promise strives to provide a safety net for children and their families before they drop into a cycle of endless shelters, loss of school attendance, unemployment, family instability, and foster care.
Volunteers are needed in the following ways:
- Hosting Site Helpers - Support their partners by helping out during one of their hosting weeks. Some ways to help include setting-up beds/rooms, preparing a dinner meal, planning activities for the families and serving as overnight hosts.
- Homework Help - Help kids with their homework and play games while their parents get the families ready to go to their evening accommodations.
- Family Mentoring - Partner with a family for a long-term peer relationship to ensure they will be able to stay in housing and meet their goals
