Volunteers are needed to serve incarcerated Christians while they transition successfully into community in the following ways:

OUTSIDE PRISON GROUP OPPORTUNITIES

Grace Ministry: Welcomes newly released programmers into our residential discipleship program with the blessing of Welcome Cards, Grace Bags, new bedding, and gifts cards. Gifts cards are used to purchase their first mobile phone, bus passes, and other necessities to help them get off to a good start. The need is ongoing and is a great opportunity for a church, small group, or a family project.

Meal & Fellowship: Provides meals and fellowship for our programmers before Wednesday Bible Study or Thursday Life Skills Groups. Meals can be catered or home cooked. This is a great opportunity for a church, group, or a family to get to know our programmers. Groups can commit to providing one or several meals, such as monthly, bi-monthly, etc.

Service Projects: Performs special projects to assist in the maintenance and upkeep of ASM properties. Examples include painting, cleaning, landscaping, minor repairs, renovations, etc.

Special Events: Works in partnership with ASM to conduct special events including inside prison. Inside events would include Evangelistic Outreaches and Worship Services.

OUTSIDE PRISON OUTSIDE PRISON INDIVIDUAL OPPORTUNITIES

Life Skills Teacher: Teaches programmers in subjects to help them prepare for transition into the community including topics like Money Management, Relationship/Marriage, Goal Setting, Writing, Automotive repair, House Maintenance, Boundaries, etc.

Outside Mentor: Meets with individual programmer on the day of release from prison and then weekly until graduation (9-months minimum). Must be willing to establish a long-term relationship with mentee.

Substitute Bible Teacher: Mature Christian Bible teachers to fill in for our regular Bible study teachers during vacations, illness, breaks, etc.

Barnabas Ministry - Letters of Encouragement: Writes letters to inmates in prison and encourages them in their walk with the Lord. This can be done from any location and is a great opportunity for individuals and groups.

Micro Event Host: Special “friend” raising events to educate targeted guests about ASM and inspire them through testimonies of life-transformation..

INSIDE PRISON INDIVIDUAL OPPORTUNITIES

Mentor: Mentors are mature Christians willing to be trained in the ASM model. The mentor meets with a programmer bi-weekly up to a year before release and a minimum of nine months after release. The mentor uses ASM Mentor Manuals to help the inmate prepare for successful reentry

Bible Study Teacher: Mature Christian Bible teachers who share the love of Christ, help inmates grow as Christians, and prepare for reentry. Teaches the practical application of scripture and promotes the ASM program.

Prayer Partners, Teachers Assistants, Worship Leaders: Assists the teacher in our weekly groups. Prayer partners pray with inmates and encourage them in their relationship with the Lord. Assistants help with set up, sign-ins, and distribution of materials. Worship leaders provide music, sound equipment, or musical instruments.
